This year I had the fantastic opportunity to go to VidCon. This annual conference features the top video social media platforms in the world and their content creators. Over the course of three days I interfaced with individuals who produce vlogs, short films, music videos, webs series, talk shows, etc. all on the internet. We discussed their methods of working with brands, finding an audience, developing content, and communicating through the internet.
I learned so much about creativity and how to target it for an audience to be relevant so as to create an impact. I look forward to working with more of these creators in the future and applying my revelations to my MFA work starting in August.

MOGUL, an online magazine with content featured in Business Insider, Forbes, Yahoo!, Gnosseum, The Huffington Post, IVY Innovator Awards, and Harvard Business School publications. I post my articles on a weekly basis. They can be found by clicking the link below.
Icthus is a four day music festival featuring around 100 artists and speakers. I had the opportunity to work the broadcast side of the festival with Asbury University. We created the content for the IMAG screens on the side of the stage, broadcasting the concerts and speakers to help attendees have a richer experience.
I worked with the engineering team to build and strike the equipment, operated the jib and VTR, as well as produced and directed different sessions. On the closing night, I had the opportunity to direct Relient K, Natalie Grant, and Matthew West's shows. It was an incredible experience, but also a soggy one. We worked really hard to make sure the daily rain showers didn't damage any of the equipment so we could press through the weather and have a great show. I had the fantastic chance to work with Julia Bowen, owner of Yoga by Julia, a studio based in Albuquerque, NM. This girl is ambitious, kind, and creative. It was awesome talking about life with her as we did this shoot. Lululemon even took a look at the photos and complimented them. I look forward to shooting and meeting more people like Julia with a passion for their field and community.
During the month of May I had the opportunity to create some videos for Richfield Video Productions. They focus primarily on simulcasting Saddlebred horse shows. The above videos are a sampling of my work for them.
The top video is a trailer for a twelve minute documentary exploring a historic training and breeding farm in the industry. The middle video is a sampling of a header we used during the broadcast. These were often shot the day of with a hour turn around time due to the other needs during the day in preparation for the broadcast. The final video is a time-lapse header I created for fun which they ended up using. It is a little long, but was kept that way to match the usual length of their header videos. It was a fast-paced environment with no time for mistakes; the experience challenged me to find ways to create new content of the same subject in a short amount of time. |
