We are officially in post-production for the first semester of graduate school.
5 weeks. 29 films. 29 students. Dailies. Director's prep. Production meetings. Location scouts. Tech scouts. Re-writes. Etc.
It was an incredible experience. We were challenged to move through 12 different crew positions, switching daily. This tested our focus, adaptability, and developed our understanding of the entire process of a team working toward a vision.
I worked as a Producer, Director, Cinematographer, Production Designer, 1st AD, 2nd AD, Script Supervisor, Camera Operator, 1st AC, 2nd AC, Boom Operator, Sound Mixer, Key Grip, Best Boy Electric, and Gaffer.
We have completed production for all 29 films which were given 12 hours of filming for a 3 3/8 page script. We have now picture-locked half of those films and are in sound editing and color correcting. Following Thanksgiving, we will begin the other half. Our screening is the second week of December.
This schedule has pushed us to be creative with minimal time and sleep. We've been forced to problem solve with an array of logistical and creative issues. We've had to work with a varying range of personalities and find a way to communicate no matter what.
As a result, we are stronger in nearly all aspects. I am so thankful for the opportunity to challenge myself with this program. Although it has required great sacrifice, I am already experiencing the rewards.
